"Researchers at Queen's University, Belfast, dabbed irritant acid on the antennae of 144 prawns. The creatures reacted by grooming and rubbing the affected area for up to five minutes: a response similar to that seen in mammals exposed to a noxious stimulant. The findings challenge the popular notion that only vertebrates feel pain."
The Times, November 8, 2007 'No backbone? Lobsters still feel pain'.
