Custard
Tart
- Take
one Friesan Holstein pure-dairy cow
- At
15 - 18 months bring into season with the growth hormone
prostaglandin
- Artificially
inseminate with semen from a Friesan Holstein bull
- Expect
calf to be born withinin 2 months
- Within
24 - 48 hours of birth remove calf
- If
the calf is male either shoot or electrocute and incinerate
- Place
mother in milking parlour and take anything up to 30 litres of
milk twice a day
- If
the calf is female place singly in hutch for no more than 8
weeks
- Feed
'milk replacers' from artificial teats or buckets
- After
60 days of giving birth bring mother into season with the growth
hormon prostaglandin and impregnate again to ensure that cows
continue to produce milk
- After
8 weeks transfer female calves to rearing pens (they are will be
needed as replacements for 'spent' cows)
- Milk
yield can be increased by keeping cows in sheds and feeding high
protein feeds supplemented with anti-biotics and with a minimum
of 6 hours of darkness
- To
make the tarts take fresh cream and place in a saucepan and when
the cream simmers whisk in beaten eggs and sugar.
- Pour
the mixture into a tart tin lined with pastry and bake in oven
for 30 - 40 minutes
